SOAS archive show

A diverse playlist of music from around the world taken from the SOAS Music Archive

The SOAS Music Archive is housed in various locales around SOAS, and contains some of the earliest LP collections of music from around the world. This show began in 2007 as a way to digitize some of these obscure LP's that were collecting dust on the shelves. The mission continues to this day, and on each show you could hear anything from Uzbek teahouse songs, to Rakotozafy—the famous Valiha player from Madagascar. Past show themes include Gastro-musicology, the Tibetan New Year, and Music from Islands, while others are completely random. After all, the fun is in the not knowing!

The SOAS Archive Show is a weekly podcast, and you can subscribe to our feed to be able to download shows to your computer/music player as soon as they are available.
