The best in Brazilian music broadcast from Rio and London.
Brought to you from two continents, the Caipirinhia Appreciation Society (MdC Suingue and Kika Serra) cover the latest records from Brazil, revealing the scene behind the cliche and presenting a whole world of underexposed music. Brazilian journalist MdC Suingue (Portuguese for "Swing") has been living in London since 1998, where he created CAS to show that there is a lot more to Brazilian music than what the major record companies would have you believe. Kika Serra, who some years ago traded London back for Rio de Janeiro, joined CAS in 2006, when the show became a bi-national broadcast.
Caipirinhia Appreciation Society is a weekly show, and you can also subscribe to our feed to be able to download shows to your computer/music player as soon as they are available.

After running a very successful marathon, the Caipirinha Appreciation Society come back in great shape. Here's a fresh episode with a fine collection of cliché-proof Brazilian songs
Brazil's yellow-clad soccer team is lovingly referred to at home as the "canary squad". Though the national bird/sport may have flown somewhat below expectations this year, Brazilians are lucky to have another passion to fall back on: the country's wonderful music. In that department at least, the Caipirinha Appreciation Society shall never let you down.
To spice up the first installment of FIFA 2010 World Cup-inspired shows, the CAIPIRINHA APPRECIATION SOCIETY set out to find some interesting songs from the three countries that are playing Brazil in the first phase of the championship, spanning three different continents. Sounds like an easy job, I bet. Well, it wasn't! Listen and find out why.
Should you not care less about the soccer summit taking place in South Africa as you read this, just relax and Jabulani* with us to the sound of the finest Brazilian music.
